Mercury has no moons and no ring system. Until the spacecraft Mariner 10 flew by Mercury, no one was sure what it looked like. Not even the largest telescopes could reveal much. The Sun's glare is too bright. Now it's known that Mercury looks a bit like Earth's Moon. It is pitted with craters.
